Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In a tragic incident, a 55-year-old woman named Anjana Biswas lost her life due to electrocution in the South Narayan Bagan area of Barasat on Friday night.
The incident occurred when she was returning home from her job at a private school around 10 PM, during heavy rains that had submerged the area. Anjana was electrocuted by an electric wire that had fallen into the water on the road, a danger she encountered just a short distance from her home.
Local residents reported hearing a loud noise before discovering Anjana lying unconscious in the water. Despite their immediate efforts, she was pronounced dead upon arrival at Barasat Hospital. The incident has cast a shadow of mourning over the entire neighborhood.
Residents have expressed their frustration and anger over the apparent negligence, questioning why the electricity was not shut off in the area during such dangerous conditions. Barasat police have begun an investigation into the matter, and Anjana’s body has been sent to the morgue for a post-mortem examination.
